Skagen Sejlklub
Skagen Sejlklub is a Danish sailing club in Skagen with around 100 members and harbour facilities in the Bundgarnsbassin in the south-western part of Skagen Harbour. The club has three piers with a total of 65 berths and a clubhouse built by members in 1981, with showers, toilets, a workshop and a renovated kitchen on the upper floor. Guests are welcome at the berths; the outer sides of the two fixed piers are reserved for visiting yachts up to 45 feet. Club life includes courses, club evenings, parties, competitive sailing and joint cruises; members are expected to take an active part in work days and events. Founded in June 1966 and organised under Dansk Sejlunion as well as a member of Danske Tursejlere, the club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016.
History
Skagen Sejlklub was founded in June 1966 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in June 2016. The club currently has about 100 members, divided among active seniors, youth and passive members; five active members form the board. Initially the club had berths in the fishing harbour and later moved to the present leased harbour area in the Bundgarnsbassin. Skagen Sejlklub is organised in Dansk Sejlunion. The present clubhouse was built by the members in 1981: the ground floor has showers and toilets, also available to visiting sailors, plus a workshop; the club room with a newly renovated kitchen is on the first floor. With three piers and a total of 65 berths, the club offers permanent moorings to members resident in Skagen. The association maintains an active club life ashore with courses, club evenings and parties and is now also a member of Danske Tursejlere, which among other things brings insurance discounts and discounted access to Swedish cruising buoys via Svenske Krysserklubben.
