Yacht Club Sharks
Yacht Club Sharks is a sailing and powerboat sports club based in Wrocław, active since March 2009 under the shared Sharks banner. The club operates from the marina at ul. Na Grobli 49 on the Oder River, offering berths, charter and a professional sailing and powerboat school to PZŻ and PZMWiNW standards. The programme covers licence courses and a racing school, youth and summer camps, and league racing with the RS21 YHS team in the Central and Greater Poland sailing leagues. Highlights include sea flotillas, the inclusive Żeglowanie bez barier programme, and membership as an association alongside Sharks Sp. z o.o.
History
Yacht Club Sharks has been active since March 2009. Founded by passionate water-sports enthusiasts, it has built its own sailing and powerboat training system in Wrocław. The Yacht Club Sharks association (KRS 0000505149) works closely with Sharks Sp. z o.o., combining licence courses, sports training for children, youth and adults, and sea flotillas. Inland, the club sails the Oder (Odrariver), the Leszczyńskie lake district and the Masurian Lakes; at sea it runs flotillas in Greece and Spain plus offshore trips on the Baltic, North Sea, Mediterranean and Atlantic. Each year YC Sharks organises youth camps and the Summer School of Water Sports in Wrocław. Competitively, the RS21 Sailing Team YHS races in the Greater Poland and Central sailing leagues and aims for promotion. In 2022 the club won the Wrocław Regional Sailing Association President's Cup. Through Żeglowanie bez barier and a grant-funded Phobos 22 yacht, the club also supports inclusive sailing.
