SGE - Segeln (Airbus Helicopters Sportgemeinschaft Donauwörth e.V.)

SGE - Segeln is the sailing and motorboat section of Airbus Helicopters Sportgemeinschaft Donauwörth e.V. and, as a member of the German Sailing Federation (DSV), belongs to sailing district 9 along the Danube. The home waters are the jetty at the Danube barrage in Donauwörth; additional club boats are moored on the Kleiner Brombachsee in Absberg and the Grosser Brombachsee in Ramsberg. The offer includes club-owned sailing and pedal boats, club regattas, flotilla sailing on inland waters, charter trips and training for the inland and coastal recreational craft licences. Membership is open to all water-sports enthusiasts, not only company employees; try-out sailing events and monthly meet-ups complete club life. Theory courses are held regularly on Mondays at the clubhouse in Donauwörth’s Parkstadt district.

History

The sailing section is a subdivision of Airbus Helicopters Sportgemeinschaft Donauwörth e.V. and a member of the German Sailing Federation (DSV). Following the reorganisation of sailing districts, the club belongs to district 9, which covers all clubs along the Danube. The home sailing area is the jetty at the Danube barrage in Donauwörth, where club-owned and private boats are moored and club regattas and practice sessions take place. The section also keeps club boats on the Kleiner Brombachsee in Absberg (“Mücke”) and the Grosser Brombachsee in Ramsberg (“Neptun Aloisius”). Members are supported in obtaining boat licences in theory and practice; theory courses are held at the sports club’s clubhouse on Perchtoldsdorfer Strasse in Donauwörth’s Parkstadt. The programme includes flotilla sailing on inland waters such as Lake Constance, the Müritz and the Brombachsee as well as charter trips on the Baltic, Mediterranean and Atlantic. Besides sailing, the section maintains an active club life with meet-ups, work parties, summer festivals and attention to the interests of the youngest members. Membership is expressly open not only to company employees but to all water-sports enthusiasts.
