Segelclub Dresden-Wachwitz e.V.
Segelclub Dresden-Wachwitz e.V. is a traditional sailing club on the Elbe in the Dresden district of Wachwitz. Its home waters are the demanding upper Elbe river with current and a narrow fairway. The club offers a floating jetty, boat hall, clubhouse and berths as well as guest moorings at river km 47. Programme and training cover river sailing, racing and cruising, junior work and official pleasure craft licence courses. Boat classes include Optimist, 420, Europe, Pirate, Ixylon and 15er Jollenkreuzer among others.
History
Segelclub Dresden-Wachwitz e.V. celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2026 and thus looks back on a sailing tradition on the Elbe in Dresden-Wachwitz dating from about 1951. The club is a collective member of the German Sailing Federation, the Saxon Sailing Federation, the Saxon Sports Federation and the Dresden District Sports Federation, with codes DSV SC 013, SVS 009, LSBS 26046 and KSB 046. Its seat is Pillnitzer Landstraße 156a in Dresden; the club is a DSV cruiser division support base. Around 2005 the clubhouse was reconstructed, and since then the jetty, boat hall and grounds on the Elbe slopes have shaped club life. Sport ranges from Elbe sailing and events such as the Upper Elbe Strommeisterschaft and the Rumpokal to cruising, bluewater sailing and German-Czech youth sailing meetings. Junior work with Optimist, 420 and Europe, regular training camps and sailing tuition for adults and juniors have long been part of the profile. Club evenings, the bluewater club, SUP and shared work parties on the jetty still make the club an active anchor of Dresden Elbe sailing.
