Segelklub Alsdorf e.V.
Segelklub Alsdorf e.V. is a sailing club on Lake Blaustein between Eschweiler and Alsdorf in the Aachen region. The club grounds sit directly on the shore and offer land and water berths for club-owned and private boats as well as a clubhouse. Besides sailing, the club offers windsurfing, SUP, wingfoiling and windfoiling; several times a year yardstick regattas are held jointly with Segelklub Eschweiler. From April to October the club meets every Wednesday at 5 p.m. for shared sailing followed by a drink. Founded in 1997 during the management and renaturation of Lake Blaustein, the club merged with Surfclub Blausteinsee in 2017 and has since expanded its surfing section including a shared equipment pool.
History
Segelklub Alsdorf e.V. has existed since 1997. It was founded during the management and renaturation of Lake Blaustein and is registered at the local court in Aachen under number 3441. Since 16 July 1997 the club has been exempt from corporation tax according to the Aachen tax office. The club grounds lie directly on the shore of Lake Blaustein and offer land and water berths as well as a clubhouse. Several times a year yardstick regattas are held jointly with Segelklub Eschweiler; annual highlights include the season opening and closing sails, a summer festival, a winter hike and evenings by the lake at full moon. Since 2017 the club has had an active surfing section that emerged from the merger with Surfclub Blausteinsee. As the youngest club on the lake, the surf club had no space for its own grounds and limited storage; the merger created storage and changing facilities by the lake and allowed further equipment purchases. Since 2021 members can freely use wingfoil and windfoil equipment; the club also owns several SUP boards and has access to a motorboat to assist members in difficulty on the water. Most work on equipment and the clubhouse is done jointly in club work parties.
