Segel-Club Enge
Segel-Club Enge (SCE) is one of the three major city sailing clubs in Zurich, with its clubhouse right by the Landiwiese on Lake Zurich in Wollishofen. Facilities include the clubhouse, dinghy yard, a raft giving access to the mooring field, and a branch site at Bächau on the upper lake. The youth section introduces juniors to the Optimist and 420 classes; club-owned boats including a J/70 support training and racing. SCE is known for the weekly 7 o'clock Race in the lake basin, Friday sailing sessions, and fixed events such as the season opening, Saffa-Inseli Cup and Zimmerberg Trophy. Founded in 1937 at Bächau, the club has for over 80 years combined racing and leisure sailing for all ages.
History
Segel-Club Enge was founded in 1937 at Bächau, which remains a key club site and hosts the well-known Bächau Weekend and the traditional summer festival. With more than 80 years of history, SCE ranks among Zurich's three large city sailing clubs. The clubhouse sits by the Landiwiese in Wollishofen near Wollishofen station and the Zurich shipping company; behind it lie the dinghy yard and raft access to the mooring field between Saffa Island and the Mythenquai baths. More than 30 years ago the club launched the 7 o'clock Race, an open Thursday fun race in the Zurich lake basin followed by get-togethers in the clubhouse. Junior training is run in close cooperation with ZSC and ZYC under JuniorensegelnZH, with SCE focusing on Optimist and 420. Today the club maintains two clubhouses and its own fleet including a J/70, and annually stages fixed regattas such as season opening, Saffa-Inseli Cup, Zimmerberg Trophy, the Zurich–Horgen–Zurich distance race and season closing.
