History
Segelclub Männedorf (SCMd) was founded in 1973 and has grown into a mid-sized, dynamic and sporting sailing club on Lake Zurich with a strong racing and junior section. Today the club has around 250 active members. The clubhouse at Seestrasse 328 is actively used for sporting activities and internal events and is available exclusively to club members. Since 2018, members have sailed year-round on the club-owned J/70; juniors and active members train together, and an ambitious J70 team successfully competes in regattas throughout Switzerland. The Segelclub Männedorf regatta pool (RPSCMd) gives experienced sailors the chance to race Onyx yachts in the Compass Cup; current boats are Werubau (SUI 001), S2 Immobilien Promo (SUI 002) and Veriset (SUI 027). The junior section trains children and young people aged about 7 to 20 on Optimists, ILCAs and 29ers and enables participation in regattas, Swiss championships and international events. Since 2026, juniors have an additional changing facility in a converted construction trailer. On the club grounds the club operates dry storage for dinghies, catamarans and smaller motorboats; some berths are also available to non-members. Members and tenants use the rigging area, winch, ramp and jetty as well as a surf and SUP rack. The club is linked to Swiss Sailing and the ZSV; on joining, members automatically become members of these associations as well.
