Segelclub Unteruhldingen e.V. (SCU) was founded in 1958 by enthusiastic sailors and is an active club on Lake Constance's Überlinger See in the tri-border region of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. With around 175 members and a youth section of about 28 young sailors, the club combines cruising, regatta sailing and a lively social scene. Member and club boats are moored in Unteruhldingen marina; the clubhouse in the renovated 'Alter Bahnhof' building on the lakeside promenade offers a club restaurant, outdoor terrace, meeting rooms and youth facilities. The annual programme includes weekend races, club regattas, club cruises, junior sailing certificate exams and events such as the harbour festival and sailors' gatherings. Youth work in Optimist, Teeny and 420 classes and membership in the DSV, LSV Baden-Württemberg and Lake Constance Sailing Association define the club.

History

Segelclub Unteruhldingen, known as SCU, was founded in 1958 by water-sports enthusiasts. Since then the club has become a fixture of the Lake Constance sailing scene with around 175 members and an active youth section of about 28 young sailors. Member and club boats are based in Unteruhldingen marina on the Überlinger See. The clubhouse is located in the 'Alter Bahnhof' building on the Strandpromenade between the marina and the pile dwellings – once the terminus of the Lake Constance Belt Railway opened in 1901 and closed in 1950. The Old Station was extensively renovated in 2010 and now houses SCU facilities including meeting rooms, a youth room, storage areas and a club restaurant with terrace and lake views. SCU is a member of the German Sailing Association (DSV), the Baden-Württemberg State Sailing Association (LSV BW) and the Lake Constance Sailing Association (BSVb); the club is registered at Freiburg District Court under VR 580085. In the 2010s youth work was relaunched in cooperation with Wassersportverein Unteruhldingen (WVU), with regular training in Optimist, Teeny and 420 classes and junior sailing certificate exams to DSV standards. In 2024 the new club boat Dehler 28 'SCUsi' was christened and is available to members for day trips and family outings. The club organises several weekend races and club regattas each year, often in cooperation with Yachtclub Litzelstetten-Mainau (YLM), scores results for the club championship and has used the RegattaHero app since 2024. Alongside regatta sailing, club cruises, harbour festival appearances, sailors' gatherings, Sailor's Club Lounge, autumn hikes and participation in the Uhldingen-Mühlhofen municipal sports camp shape club life on the water and in the clubhouse.
