History

Following a boat christening on 26 June 1993 at the Rust campsite, many participants decided to found a sailing club, initially to be called "Camp-Segler-Bund-Rust". On 20 October 1993 the authorities issued a non-prohibition notice to the founding committee. The constitutive general meeting was convened on 15 January 1994. Camp-Segelclub Rust (CSCR), a non-profit organisation, promotes and supports sailing, mutual assistance and advice in all sailing matters, represents members' interests, youth training, and exchange of experience and further education. On 6 November 1999 the general meeting appointed Franz Pabisch as honorary chairman. The application for membership in the Burgenland State Sailing Federation was approved, as was membership in the Austrian Sailing Federation. On 27 October 2001 the general meeting renamed the club to "Segelclub Rust (SCR)". The clubhouse was officially opened on 26 June 2004 and serves members as a sports facility and communication centre. Gerhard Ettlinger was appointed honorary chairman on 25 October 2008 and Klaus Prtak on 22 October 2011. SCR members are divided into full members, youth members and honorary members. The club is friendly and cheerful; members enjoy both racing and cruising. Each season an overall winner is determined from regatta crews and awarded the SCR Cup at the general meeting. The club also offers social events to members and guests. Membership currently stands at approximately 120 people. Guest berths and further moorings are located on the pontoons in the southern harbour. During the season, members meet on the first Saturday of each month for an informal club evening.
