Segelclub LTG 61 e.V.
Segelclub LTG 61 e.V. is a long-established sailing club on Lake Ammersee in Bavaria and has been based there since 1972. Members sail club boats and their own boats for regattas, relaxed sailing and social gatherings by the lake. The club runs a booking system for the club boats Trall, Bell and Pitschi as well as the Cube and stand-up paddleboards, and has for decades organised mutual training for the inland sailing licence, coastal SBF, radio certificates SRC/UBI and the coastal yachtmaster certificate SKS. Beginners and newcomers are expressly welcome; youth offers such as taster courses for members’ children and a youth officer shape club life. Its roots lie with founding members from the environment of Air Transport Group 61; the club continues that story even after LTG 61 was disbanded at the end of 2017.
History
In spring 1972, master sergeants Heinz Tatje and Hans-Peter “Pit” Grieser flew a C-160 Transall from Penzing to Crete. Looking at the Mediterranean, they wished to be out on a sailing ship – from that idea Segelclub LTG 61 grew. What the founding members and helpers created has lasted for over forty years and still delights members, fellow sailors and friends. From the start the club has been open to all interested people and unites the shared passion of gliding across the water with boat and wind. Despite the disbandment of Air Transport Group “LTG 61” at the end of 2017, the club’s history continues. Since 1972 the club has been based on Lake Ammersee in Bavaria; in winter the club boats are moved from the Ammersee to Lagerlechfeld into the Ulrich barracks. Today the club offers sailing with club and private boats, regattas, barbecue evenings and a booking system for boats and SUPs, plus mutual training for licences and radio certificates.
