Segelclub Dillinger Land
Segelclub Dillinger Land (SCDL) is a sailing club on Lake Wagersee between Weisingen and Lauingen, the largest of the three Wager lakes in the region. The club offers sailing for all ages as well as numerous club activities such as regattas, barbecue evenings and festivals. The club grounds at Lake Wagersee near Weisingen include a clubhouse, workshop, garage, terrace, lawn areas and a bathing beach; club boats including nine Optimists, four Lasers, one Teeny and one Vago are available for members to use free of charge. Young sailors are supported through a children's holiday programme with taster sailing, Optimist training and a youth leader, while interested newcomers can try sailing at the sailing information day. The board invites members, families, guests and interested visitors to use the sailing base and take part in events – "a holiday on your doorstep" at Lake Wagersee.
History
Segelclub Dillinger Land (SCDL) operates on Lake Wagersee between Weisingen and Lauingen, the largest of the three Wager lakes in the region. In March 2018 the club launched a revised website and reinstated an internal members' area intended to grow over time. In the years that followed, SCDL regularly presented itself at the WIR exhibition in the region, informing visitors about sailing certificates and club life and repeatedly raffling membership including sailing certificate training. At the sailing information day in June 2018, interested visitors could come along and try sailing with members; registration was possible via the first chairman's email address. In August 2018 SCDL held a children's holiday programme with taster sailing at the club grounds on Lake Wagersee near Weisingen, with 34 children aged seven to twelve from Gundelfingen, Mörslingen and Holzheim taking part and sailing Optimists. In 2019 the club took part in the GET event with a craft corner and an Optimist for children to try. In 2020 SCDL again participated in WIR with information on sailing certificates and taster sessions for children in a small sailing boat, supported by Segelschule Marx on Lake Ammersee for sailing certificates. The club's traditional Laser cup regatta had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic; strict rules for use of the club grounds were introduced during that period. Today the board under Tony Horsch continues to invite members of all ages to events and welcomes new members, guests and interested visitors to the sailing base on Lake Wagersee.
