SegelClub Düren e.V.
SegelClub Düren e.V. is a small, family-friendly water sports club focused on recreational sailing. Its jetty lies in Eschaueler Bay on Lake Rur in the Eifel, one of Germany’s largest reservoir sailing areas on the edge of the Eifel Nature Park. With 19 berths (17 in the water and two on the platform) and an active youth section, the club offers entry and training including Optimist and ILCA 7. Youth officer Janus Weber and the board welcome interested sailors; new members usually start as guest members first. Founded in 1976 and independent since 2005, family cohesion has shaped the club for five decades.
History
SegelClub Düren was founded in 1976 as a section of the then Sportgemeinschaft Düren 1899 e.V. In 2005 it became independent with the founding of SegelClub Düren e.V. Several founding members are still active in club life today – a sign of the family cohesion that has shaped the club for five decades. Today the club has 48 members and 19 berths at its jetty in Eschaueler Bay on Lake Rur. It is registered under VR 2050 at the local court in Düren and sees itself as a family-friendly recreational sports club with an active youth section.
