Segelbootclub Krems

Segelbootclub Krems is a club of sailing enthusiasts located directly on the Danube near Krems in the Wachau. Founded in 1972, the club grounds sit on the right bank of the Danube downstream of the St. Pölten Bridge and cover around 11,000 square metres including the harbour basin. Facilities include 50 wet berths, a crane with a two-tonne capacity, a slipway, clubhouse, equipment sheds and generous land storage areas. The sailing area extends about 20 kilometres east through the Danube reservoir to the Altenwörth power plant. The programme welcomes beginners and advanced sailors and includes regattas, joint outings and leisure activities on the water.

History

Segelbootclub Krems was founded in 1972 and has since been located on the right, southern bank of the Danube between river kilometres 1999.3 and 1999.5, slightly downstream of the St. Pölten Bridge. Access is via Furth-Palt, past the sports ground, along the Fladnitzbach to the Danube and then downstream on the towpath through the St. Pölten Bridge. The club area covers around 11,000 square metres including the harbour basin and offers 50 wet berths, a crane with a two-tonne capacity, a slipway, a clubhouse, equipment sheds and generous land storage. The sailing grounds extend about 20 kilometres east through the Danube reservoir to the Altenwörth power plant; there is also a waterway connection to the wider world. To this day, regattas, joint outings and leisure activities on the Danube and in the Wachau shape club life.
