Yacht- und Surfclub Senftenberger See e.V.
Yacht- und Surfclub Senftenberger See e.V. is a non-profit sailing club on Lake Senftenberg in Großkoschen near Senftenberg. The club grounds lie on the Großkoschen beach next to the watersports centre and offer water and shore berths, a clubhouse with showers and toilets, and a slipway. The programme includes sailing training, youth coaching on Optimist, ILCA and 420, club boats and regular regattas such as the Tradition, Anniversary and Spring regattas. Guests can use short-term berths after prior notice to the harbour master; in 2026 the club celebrates its 50th anniversary and has been organised in the German Sailing Federation since 1990.
History
In September 1976, three years after Lake Senftenberg opened as a recreation area, 15 sailors founded a sailing interest group to give the sport organised, regatta-oriented form. The early years were difficult: securing the harbour grounds, erecting a former army tent and obtaining permission to build a clubhouse marked that phase. The organisation evolved from the sailing section of BSG Aktivist Brieske-Senftenberg to the sailing section of TSG Großkoschen. As membership and performance grew, several regattas a year, a youth section and an expanded fleet followed; in 1986 a GDR surfing championship was even hosted. In spring 1990 the present association was founded and registered (VR3); Günter Hopp became first chairman. The club joined the Brandenburg Sailing Association (member no. 66126) and the German Sailing Federation (member no. 045). Fixed events include the Tradition, Anniversary and Lake Cup regattas; guest events such as Cup Klasse Sympathie and Stream-Line on the Rock were highlights. Youth work with training camps and closing regattas remains central. In 2026 Yacht- und Surfclub Senftenberger See e.V. celebrates its 50th anniversary with a festival programme and evening sail.
