History

Segel-Klub Nixe e.V. is based on the south-eastern shore of Lake Tegel in northern Berlin. Lake Tegel is an approximately four-kilometre-long and 1.5-kilometre-wide side bay of the Upper Havel from Spandau to Tegel; about 23 clubs sail there, and with roughly 125 members Nixe is among the larger ones. Club life is shaped by regular Friday races, Südufer club races, the winter Ice-Bucket Challenge and the Berlin Varianta championship with Randmeerjolle ranking events. In 2020 the crane pier decking was renewed, the harbour basin was cleaned with help from the Berliner Wasserratten, and electrical lines were excavated in a work party; the youth room and kitchen were cleared and organised. That same year a donated defibrillator was installed at the outer clubhouse entrance for club and neighbouring clubs. Facade work followed in 2021. In 2025 members renovated the centre jetty and joined World Cleanup Day along Bernauer Straße to the waterworks. At the 2019 24-hour race of Club Nautique Francais de Tegel the Nixe team finished third on Randmeerjolle Swantje. The regatta archive documents results back into the 2000s and shows continuous sporting activity on Lake Tegel.
