Segel-Club Rhein-Sieg e.V.
SCRS is a community of around 280 members dedicated to sailing in all its variety. Shared experiences and the joy of sailing in theory and practice, as well as exchanging impressions on the water and on land, are central to club activities.
History
Segel-Club Rhein-Sieg e.V. (SCRS) is a community of around 280 members dedicated to sailing in all its forms. By statute, SCRS is a member of the German Sailing Association DSV (club no. NW325), the North Rhine-Westphalia Sailing Association, the Rhein-Sieg District Sports Federation and the Siegburg Municipal Sports Association. Most on-water activities take place at the home waters in Ophoven on the Meuse in Belgium, where the club fleet is based and members can stay overnight in the two club houses "Lion" and "Salsa". The home harbour "De Spaanjerd" is described as the largest and most modern marina in the Meuse region. In addition to club-owned boats, members can also go along on cabin yachts owned by fellow members. Training is a core task of the club; SCRS received awards for outstanding training at the German Sailing Day in Leipzig in 2007 and in Papenburg (Ems) in 2015. The club holds annual club championships in a match-race format as well as the Siegburg city championships and informs members about regional regatta opportunities. Regular sailors' evenings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. provide a social setting for club news and exchange among sailors.
