History

Club maritim Erfurt e.V. was founded in 1977 and has since been a maritime water sports club in the heart of Thuringia on Lake Alperstedt. From the outset the club combined seafaring traditions with modern sports offerings and placed particular emphasis on promoting children and young people in seesport and sailing. Over the decades the club became a fixture in the Thuringian-Saxon seesport scene with regular participation in regional, national and international competitions. With support from the Sparkassenstiftung Erfurt, the club acquired its first dragon boat at the end of 2008; it was christened "Teamgeist" on 29 May 2009 by Thuringia's Minister of Social Affairs Christine Lieberknecht and has since been available to school classes, companies and racing crews. The club organises its own regattas such as the traditional "Blauer Kristall" in the Ixylon class, the Erfurt Dragon Boat Cup and numerous seesport and sailing events on its home waters. In 2025 Club maritim Erfurt co-hosted the German Dinghy Multisport Championship of the German Seesport Association at Bleiloch Reservoir together with SC Turbine Bleiloch. In recent years the club has celebrated outstanding sporting successes in the Ixylon, Optimist, 420er and Pirat classes, including German championship titles in Optimist dinghy multisport, Thuringian state championship titles and podium finishes at national regattas. The club is a member of the Erfurt Sports Federation, Thuringia State Sports Federation, Thuringian State Seesport Association, German Seesport Association, Thuringian Sailing Association, German Sailing Association and other specialist federations, and holds the "SPORT PRO GESUNDHEIT" quality seal. Since 1977 Club maritim Erfurt has achieved a great deal and remains a vibrant meeting place for water sports enthusiasts young and old.
