History

After its founding in 1960, the club was incorporated as a marine club into the Society for Sport and Technology. Seesport developed into an independent sport discipline in the following years, nurtured by water sports enthusiasts. After reunification, the club was revived in May 1990 as Sächsischer Seesportclub Dresden e.V. and later renamed Seesportclub Dresden e.V. The club grounds with boathouse are located in Dresden-Tolkewitz directly on the Elbe. The club started small and now has almost 70 members and over 30 boats. Seesport has existed in Dresden since 1960; the club successfully participates in various regattas every year, competes throughout the season and attends training camps. Seesport historically emerged to train young people for the navy and merchant shipping. Today the sport includes disciplines such as knot tying, swimming, cross-country running, rope climbing and rope throwing, as well as team disciplines rowing and sailing. In competition, jolle and kutter multi-events have established themselves as a compact competition format. The main equipment is the Kutter ZK10, supplemented by Ixylon and Optimist sailing dinghies, with which the club successfully competes in regattas nationwide.
