SCOR Segelclub Oberhausen-Rheinhausen e.V.
SCOR Segelclub Oberhausen-Rheinhausen e.V. is a traditional sailing club located directly on Lake Erlichsee in the municipality of Oberhausen-Rheinhausen in Baden-Württemberg. The club grounds sit right by the water and provide a launching area for the approved classes ILCA, 470 and Hobie Cat. Each year the club hosts three two-day regattas, including the season opening, the Peter and Paul Regatta and the autumn closing race. With more than 100 active members and a history dating back to its founding in May 1973, SCOR is a firm meeting point for sailors on Lake Erlichsee. History
In May 1973 a small group of dedicated sailing enthusiasts met at Cafe Schmidt to found the sailing club. At the time they still sat in a cellar, in a small, very low room, and none of those present that evening could foresee what would develop from the meeting over the following decades. Above all they hoped that, as a sailing club community, they could avoid many of the uncertainties that individuals faced when pursuing their hobby. At that time there was neither a boat launching site nor grounds, let alone accommodation for sailors. They looked for a reasonably firm stretch of shoreline where a boat could be put into the water. Surfboards were still a rarity; muddy feet and hulls were not. A few enjoyable sailing hours on the lake were paid for with a great deal of transport and assembly work, because gear was always stored at home. This remained true in the early days of the young club, when only the long-desired launching site had been granted. By the end of the founding year the club had 25 members. Today there are more than 100 active members. The club grounds now lie directly on Lake Erlichsee in Oberhausen-Rheinhausen. Approved classes include Laser, 470 and Hobie Cat; three two-day regattas with these classes are held each year.
