History

In 1971, Segelclub Landsberg a. Lech e.V. was registered as an association at the Landsberg district court by Helmut Piecha (+7.4.97) and other ambitious sailors. After two years of approval procedures, the club's own jetty in St. Alban was inaugurated in 1973; at that time the club already had more than 100 members with 48 boats. Under Helmut Piecha as chairman from 1971 to 1980, the jetty was built, a "75 National Kreuzer" named "Wappen von Landsberg" was purchased and the first 24-hour regatta on Lake Ammersee was held in 1975. Max Pietch led the club from 1980 to 1992 and acquired the motorboats "Zamperl 1" and "Max1". Horst Krah was responsible from 1992 to 2004 for building the winter storage hall in Landsberg (1992), the clubhouse in Diessen-St. Alban (1999), jetty renovation with lighting, purchase of the motorboats "Sir Hubert" and "Moby Dick", motorisation of the work barge and securing and expanding the youth area; in 2004 the winter hall property was acquired. Rudolph Kugelmann chaired the club from 2005 to 2007 and maintained the property portfolio; from 2007 to 2019 he served as 2nd chairman. Bernd Müller-Hahl shaped the club from 2007 to 2022: construction of the second winter hall, renovation of jetty and ramp, acquisition of the motorboat "Gummibär" for youth training, expansion of the youth fleet to 11 Optimists and 7 420s, youth weeks, training days, offshore youth cruises and sailing licence courses; in 2019 the motorboat "Graf Rasso" replaced "Moby Dick". Richard Zobel has led the club as 1st chairman since 2022; at the members' meeting on 29 March 2025 he was unanimously re-elected for the next term, with Willi Knoll as 2nd chairman. Today SCLL has 142 full members and 23 youth members. In addition to the clubhouse, winter hall, jetty and dinghy area, there are 34 berth boxes, six moorings, three club sailing boats, three motorboats and three buoys. The 24-hour regatta, first held in 1975 and reaching its 50th edition in 2026, is one of the largest sailing events in southern Germany and attracts numerous boats to Lake Ammersee every year.
