Segelclub Lingenfeld e.V.
A family-friendly sailing club founded by enthusiasts in 1976 on Lake Schäfersee near Lingenfeld, with around 120 members today. The motto "Sailing for Everyone" shapes an open club with a personal atmosphere, 30 water and land berths, a floating clubhouse and a diverse programme for leisure sailors, families and youth – focused on shared experiences on the water rather than performance pressure.
History
Segelclub Lingenfeld e.V. was founded in 1976 by enthusiasts and developed into a small, family-oriented sailing club on Lake Schäfersee north of the Lingenfeld Old Rhine. Since its founding, the club has been actively involved in environmental protection and has implemented various projects to protect endangered species on the site. In 1977 the club leased approximately 12,000 m² of land from the municipality of Lingenfeld; at that time the area was still a sand desert churned up by excavators. Through extensive renaturation projects, a valuable habitat for rare plant and animal species emerged over the following years. In 1997 the club grounds were incorporated into the "Schwarzwald" nature reserve. The club site today includes a dinghy garden, a materials shed, basic sanitary facilities, a floating clubhouse on the water and 30 water berths; land berths and indoor winter storage are also available. The motto "Sailing for Everyone" has always shaped club policy: membership fees were deliberately kept family-friendly to make sailing accessible to as many people as possible. Lake Schäfersee as the sailing area covers around 45 hectares with a direct connection to the Rhine; the unique location in the nature reserve gives the club a secluded, natural atmosphere. Club life focuses on joint regattas, trips on the water and social gatherings in the clubhouse – less competition than the shared experience on the water. In 2026 Segelclub Lingenfeld celebrates its 50th anniversary; for the jubilee the club grounds were refreshed, the clubhouse repainted inside and numerous helpers took part in maintenance work in the dinghy garden and on club facilities. The club currently has around 120 members and offers an active youth programme, monthly children and youth training, trial sailing, club regattas and use of club-owned boats for a small flat fee.
