Segelclub Lechbruck e.V.
Segelclub Lechbruck e.V. (SCL) is a non-profit sailing club with sailing grounds in Dietringen on Lake Forggensee and in Lechbruck am See. The club promotes sailing as a popular and racing sport, involves young people and values a companionable club life. On Lake Forggensee the club owns lakeside land with a pier next to the yacht school; club boats such as Optimists, Lasers and a 505 are available for juniors. Regular club regattas, the End-of-Summer Challenge and shared events on Lake Forggensee shape the sporting programme. Since its founding in 1966 the SCL combines Olympic class tradition with recreational sailing and currently has 125 members.
History
When it became known that Lech barrage III would be filled in summer 1966, Wolfgang Haisermann and Theo Kössel recruited interested people for water sports next to the village. On 18 March 1966, 22 people met at the former Gasthaus zur Post and founded Segelclub Lechbruck. The first board was Wolfgang Haisermann (1st chairman), Hermann Biberacher (2nd chairman), Dietmar Hollmann (secretary), Wolfgang Haisermann (treasurer) and Theo Kössel and Dieter Grünert as sailing officers. In May 1967 the SCL held its founding regatta for Olympic classes Flying Dutchman, Korsar and Finn Dinghy on the Upper Lech Lake; 33 boats started, including Prince Luitpold of Bavaria. On 19 August 1967 the club introduced itself to the community with a summer night festival at the sailing harbour that drew about 1,000 visitors and remained a tradition into the 1980s. Because the Upper Lech Lake was unsuitable for racing boats due to shallows, the club under Wolfgang Haisermann acquired lakeside land at Dietringen on Lake Forggensee next to the yacht school. The SCL then hosted the ranking FD Cup and focused early on Finn Dinghy and Flying Dutchman. In the 1970s and 1980s crews such as Theo Kössel and Wolfgang Haisermann as well as Dietmar Hollmann and Fritz Ott won several ranking regattas; in the late 1980s Toni Kössel became Tempest vice world champion with Peter Ringmaier. Later club life shifted more towards recreational sailing while Optimists, Lasers and a 505 remain available for juniors. Sigi Lohwasser shaped the club for 26 years as 1st chairman; Dieter Grünert (member no. 001) served on the board for over 50 years. Today the SCL has 125 members and belongs to DSV, BLSV and the Bavarian Sailing Federation; in 2026 the club celebrated 60 years.

Junior members are full members and gain voting rights at age 18; club boats (Optimists, Lasers, 505) are available for young sailors.
