History

On 19 April 1962 a 'Yachtclub Attersee' was registered in Vienna, initiated by Carl Auteried sen., Kurt Altmann-Althausen, Dr Carl Zimmel and Dr Kurt Fritsche. Official recognition was initially refused; after renaming to 'Yachtclub Kammersee' the club was admitted by the Austrian Sailing Federation on 25 February 1967. Without its own premises, the young Segelclub Kammersee initially operated from Seewalchen lido but soon fielded Austria's strongest FD fleet. On 3 March 1967 the club leased premises and property at Inselweg 13 on the lakeshore. In 1968 Carl Auteried sen. became sporting director and Hans Hofer-Straschik president. In 1985 SCK hosted the H-Boot World Championship; the club crew Farthofer/Holler/Holler won silver. In 1990 Hofer-Straschik handed the presidency to Carl Auteried jun. after 25 years. Around 1994 the club had about 250 members. Further milestones include the H-Boot Worlds 1995, Soling Europeans 2001, Tempest Worlds 2005 as host, property acquisition in 2006, Austrian Olympic Classes 2009, Soling Europeans 2011, Stephan Beurle as president from 2012, lounge renovation 2020, unanimous purchase of property shares in 2021, 60th anniversary with Soling Europeans victory in 2022, and pier damage from flooding in 2024 with full repair in 2025.
