Segel-Club Hennesee Meschede e.V.

Segel-Club Hennesee Meschede e.V. (SCHM) is an accessible sailing club on Lake Hennesee in the Sauerland, with its home harbour in Berghauser Bucht in Meschede. The grounds include around 60 berth boxes on two jetties, a dry jetty for dinghies and Optimists, a clubhouse with sun terrace, boat hall, workshop, and slipway and crane facilities. Club boats such as Randmeerjolle and Optimists, trial sailing, DSV basic sailing certificate courses and Optimist training welcome families, juniors and boat owners. Founded in 1967, regattas such as Mescheder Wind and Fun Regatta plus year-round club life define the association.

History

On 10 June 1967, Hans Bollmann, Armin Schneider and nine others founded Segel-Club Hennesee. In 1968/69 the first self-built jetty was launched in Berghauser Bucht, starting the tradition of joint spring jetty assembly. In 1976 the first clubhouse opened and was expanded over the years, most recently with balcony renovation in 2020 and a new heating concept in 2022. Today, in its 59th season, the club has around 60 berth boxes, club boats, an Optimist fleet, crane, hall and workshop. The annual rhythm of herring dinner, Mescheder Wind, Fun Regatta, harbour festival, end-of-season race and potato roast still shapes club life.
