Segel Club Friedrichstadt e.V. (SCFr) is a sailing club founded in 1963 on the banks of the Treene in the Dutch-style town of Friedrichstadt between the Eider and Treene near Husum. The roughly seven-kilometre river sailing area offers tide-free inland sailing with quick access to the North Sea and Baltic Sea. The club has about 40 berths with a slipway, floating pontoons with power and water, and a clubhouse with modern sanitary facilities, a canteen and a youth room. Intensive youth training in Optimist, Teeny and Pirat, several annual regattas and the well-known multi-day Opti camp shape the programme for juniors and guests. For its exemplary youth work, SCFr was named Sailing Club of the Year 2000 by the German Sailing Federation and the magazine segeln.
History
Segel Club Friedrichstadt e.V. (SCFr) was founded in 1963 and is located on the banks of the Treene in the picturesque Dutch-style town of Friedrichstadt between the Eider and Treene near Husum. From the outset the club developed into a hospitable river sailing club with a roughly seven-kilometre racing and cruising area and quick access to the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Over decades SCFr built intensive youth coaching; juniors race Optimists, Teenys and Pirats and also compete at national and international championships. For more than fifty years the eight-day Optimist dinghy sailing camp has been held, regularly attracting up to 80 young sailors aged 7 to 14 from various German states; 2023 celebrated the 50th Opti camp, and in 2026 the club invites sailors to the 53rd edition. For its exemplary youth work SCFr was named Sailing Club of the Year 2000 by the German Sailing Federation and the magazine segeln. On 30 September 2023 the club marked its 60th anniversary with greetings, awards and a communal celebration. Today 102 adult and about 35 junior members belong to the club; at 40 berths with slipway, power and water and in the clubhouse with modern sanitary facilities, sailors meet for regattas, Friday social evenings, work parties and sociable events.

Activities
Annual Opti B/C regattas and North Frisia district championships, multi-day Opti camp for children and juniors, youth training in Optimist, Teeny and Pirat, season opening and closing sails, taster sailing, Friday social evenings, grounds work parties, barbecue evenings, club festivities and lecture and training evenings also for non-members.
