History

Segel-Club-Crefeld e.V. (SCCR) is an established sailing club on Lake Elfrath in north-eastern Krefeld. The sailing area covers around 50 hectares with an approximately 2.3-kilometre regatta course and offers diverse opportunities for dinghy sailing on single- and double-handed boats. The club is a member of the German Sailing Association and has a long tradition in regatta sailing, including the annual opening regatta as the first leg of the Krefeld city championship. At the club's 50th anniversary, a new Laser boat was christened "KRaser", reflecting a club history spanning several decades. In recent years SCCR has developed particularly in youth development, sailing school and prevention. The youth section has around 70 children and young people and regularly trains junior sailors in various boat classes. In March 2026 SCCR became the first club in Krefeld officially admitted to the NRW Sports Federation quality alliance for protection against sexualised and interpersonal violence in sport. The club organises numerous events such as the annual summer festival, lantern sailing at the end of the season, youth sailing weekends and cruising trips. Since 1996 SCCR has also maintained a cooperation with the sailing working group of the Montessori comprehensive school in Krefeld.
