Segelclub Attersee

Sporty and cosy, small but impressive – that is Segelclub Attersee on Lake Attersee in Upper Austria. SCATT is a club of sailors for sailors and offers enthusiastic sailors a welcoming home. On the sporting side, active participation in yardstick and one-design regattas across all age groups is central, including club regattas, the Attersee Cup and youth regattas. Youth work is a key focus – from getting started in the Optimist to ambitious regatta participation at national and international level. The club grounds offer a slipway, a jetty and buoy and land berths; the clubhouse provides usable infrastructure. The club competes in the 2nd Sailing Bundesliga and extends its reach beyond the lake with the IFSEC Business Cup on the Adriatic.

History

Segelclub Attersee was founded in 1973 as a section of the Attersee Fire Brigade Sports Association. At the general meeting on 14 February 1975, Segel Club Attersee SCATT was established as an independent club. The founding members were Dir. Walter Aicher, Erwin Amberger, Anton Stader, Bernd Riedl, Gretl Hintermeyer, Günther and Helga Aicher, Kurt and Monika Amon, Manfred Wagner and Franz Zach. In 1973, at an initial regatta briefing by Karl Haitzinger, 10 skippers were selected from 26 sailing enthusiasts for a regatta; organiser Fritz Haberl, race officer Franz Zach, section leader Anton Stader. In 1975 SCATT was founded with president Anton Stader, who became honorary president from 1979. In 1979 Ing. Manfred Schönleitner sen. took over the presidency; the jetty and a club house were officially opened and a motorboat was purchased. In 1980 Ing. Manfred Schönleitner sen. organised a disabled persons' regatta and a trip to Weyregg where participants were welcomed with music. In 1989 Manfred Wagner became president and shaped SCATT club life over nine years through personal commitment. In 1997 Manfred Wagner as president realised the idea that all sailing clubs around Lake Attersee should compete in their own ATTERSEE CUP ranking under the Upper Austrian Sailing Association. In 1998 a new board was elected – Manfred Wagner became honorary president. Until 2016 the following served as presidents: Ing. Wolfgang Kastl, Ing. Wolfgang Gabler, Ing. Wolfgang Kastl, Josef Ablinger and Peter Stadler. In 2020 all eight board positions were filled at the board election; Wolf Teja Steinleithner was elected president.
