Segelclub am Pfäffikersee (SCaP)
The Segelclub am Pfäffikersee (SCaP) has existed since 1953 and is the only sailing club on Lake Pfäffikon. The club's own pontoon berths and dry berths, a slipway and a club room at the Auslikon lido form the basis for around 140 members. The club is a member of Swiss Sailing and the Lake Zurich Sailing Association.
History
The Segelclub am Pfäffikersee (SCaP) was founded in 1953 and remains the only sailing club on Lake Pfäffikon to this day. Over the decades, the club developed into the centre of sailing activity on the lake with its own pontoon berths, dry and wet berths, a slipway and a club room at the Auslikon lido. Today the SCaP maintains 34 wet berths and 15 dry berths; allocation and use are governed by the berth regulations. The public slipway is maintained in coordination with the municipality of Wetzikon. The club is a member of Swiss Sailing and the Lake Zurich Sailing Association (ZSV). Regularly held spring and summer regattas – including in the Pirat and Yardstick classes – shape the racing programme. Regatta reports repeatedly feature Pirats, H-boats, Flying Dutchmen and Optimists; Yardstick and Opti regattas have also been held on Lake Pfäffikon. Youth development is supported through youth sailing courses on Optimist, Laser and Pirat; adults can take basic sailing courses, including preparation for the Swiss D-licence. Members can reserve club boats (C55, Pirat, Laser) via an online reservation system. Annual highlights include the season opening, season closing, general meeting, fox hunt event, pontoon assembly and dismantling, and mulled wine punch evening. In 2024 a new website with a club boat reservation system went online. The club has around 140 members and pursues the goals of practising sailing, organising regattas, fostering camaraderie, safeguarding common interests and promoting youth sailing.
