Segel-Club »Ahoi« e.V.

Segel-Club »Ahoi« e.V. is a long-established Berlin sailing club on Lake Wannsee with more than 125 years of tradition since its founding in 1892. At Am Großen Wannsee 50 the club offers moorings, a clubhouse with terrace and a diverse fleet in classes such as Optimist, ILCA, Korsar, Nordic Folkboat and H-Boot. The programme includes internal club races scored by yardstick, the joint Thursday regatta with Wannsee clubs, ranking events such as the Sommer Cup Ahoi and Rolling Home, and structured youth work with Optimist beginner and racing groups. The Korsar fleet trains on Tuesdays at Lake Wannsee from April to September, and the sports officer also offers dinghy training on club Lasers. As one of the region's oldest sailing clubs, Ahoi combines regatta sailing, grassroots and youth development with active club life on the water.

History

Segel-Club »Ahoi« was founded on 13 April 1892 with 33 members and 11 yachts; Paul Schönwald was the first chairman. After purchasing land in Wendenschloß on the River Dahme, the clubhouse was inaugurated on 14 May 1899 opposite the rowing regatta course still used in Grünau today. By 1925 the club had 180 members, 48 yachts, 14 motorboats and 2 ice sailors, and was also active internationally, for example at ice sailing in Riga in 1928. In 1936 Arno Gaedke sailed the O-Jolle in Olympic qualifying regattas; in 1942 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a jubilee regatta and 235 entries across 24 classes. After the war, Ahoi members were initially active in the Seddin sailing group in Schmöckwitz, the Wendenschloß clubhouse was requisitioned, and in 1951 the club grounds were expropriated. SV 03 hosted the club until 1961, Yacht-Club Müggelsee until 1972. In 1971 Ahoi took over the site at Am Großen Wannsee 50; 36 members began rebuilding, the pontoon was ready in 1972, and on 10 September 1977 the clubhouse and grounds were officially inaugurated. In 1981 SC Ahoi hosted the 420 youth European championship, in 1984 the Berlin Nordic Folkboat championships. For the 100th anniversary in 1992 the club hosted the German Nordic Folkboat championship. The clubhouse extension was inaugurated in 2009, in 2012 Ahoi hosted the official opening-of-season ceremony for the Wannsee/Lower Havel district, and in 2017, for the 125th anniversary, the International German Korsar Championship with 52 entered boats on Lake Wannsee.
