Segelclub Vest Recklinghausen
Segelclub Vest Recklinghausen (SCVR) is the sailing section of Polizeisportvereinigung e. V. Recklinghausen and runs the official club website at scvr.info. The club was founded in 1970; from the outset members have come from a wide range of professions. Sailing takes place on Haltern Reservoir, where the club has its base at the Schwarzer Steg on the Stever dam in Haltern am See. Members can use club boats including a Flying Cruiser and a Varianta 18; Optimist dinghies are available for young beginners. Around 90 sailors enjoy the waters for leisure sailing in an informal atmosphere. Anyone wishing to learn more or sail with the club can visit at the jetty or contact the board.
History
In 1970 SCVR was founded as a section of Polizeisportvereinigung e. V. Recklinghausen. Members came from the outset from many different professions, not only from the police. A core founding aim was to enable sailing friends in the Vest Recklinghausen area to practise their sport in an informal way. The club still pursues that aim today. Members discovered and grew to love Haltern Reservoir as their sailing grounds. At the Schwarzer Steg on the Stever dam in Haltern am See the club found a permanent base. Club boats are available there for members, including the Flying Cruiser “Filou”, the Victoire 22 boats “Chocolat” and “Alte Liebe”, and the Varianta 18 “VestIna”. Optimist dinghies are provided at Haltern Reservoir for children taking up sailing. According to the club, SCVR today has around 90 sailors. The club is a non-profit sailing section of Polizeisportvereinigung e. V. Recklinghausen, registered in the Recklinghausen association register. Interested visitors are invited to come to the jetty or get in touch.
