Segelclub vom Greifensee (SCvG)
The Segelclub vom Greifensee (SCvG) is a sailing club in Niederuster near Uster, located directly on Lake Greifen. With a clubhouse, jetty, dry storage, mooring buoys and a boat hall, the club grounds offer good conditions for racing and cruising. Members can also hire a club yacht and use a dinghy pool to reach boats on the buoys. Junior training, Friday sailing from 17:00, summer and autumn regattas and an open-jetty day shape club life. The club belongs to the Lake Zurich Sailing Association ZSV and Swiss Sailing and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2018.
History
The Segelclub vom Greifensee (SCvG) in Niederuster has a long club history. The 65th anniversary in 2008 and the 75th birthday on 7 July 2018 point to a founding around 1943. Over the decades the club has become a hub for racing and cruising sailors on Lake Greifen. Photo galleries and reports document regular summer and autumn regattas, junior training, Friday sailing, season openings and work parties on the club grounds. In 2010 the jetty was installed; in 2011 and 2012 buoy checks, buoy shifts and jetty work followed. Flood events in December 2012 and February 2021 marked club life. In 2017 the club revised buoy-strop fastening recommendations after observations in high waves. For the 79th general meeting in 2022, concepts for a club yacht and statute revisions were prepared. Since then members have had a hireable club yacht and a dinghy pool. At the 2022 Lake Greifen Championship the SCvG won four podium places, including the Optimist championship title. The club is a member of the Lake Zurich Sailing Association ZSV and national body Swiss Sailing and fosters camaraderie and care for the sailing area on Lake Greifen.
