Segelclub Hallwil

Segelclub Hallwil (SCH) in Beinwil am See is committed to recreational sailing on Lake Hallwil and brings together around 600 members through fleet activities, youth work and regular regatta racing from spring through autumn. The well-equipped club grounds opposite Seehotel Hallwil offer a clubhouse, club-owned crane with ramps, support boats, dry and winter storage areas and a members' car park. Qualified youth coaches introduce children aged 8 to 18 in three training groups on club-owned Optimists, 420s and Ilca dinghies; Star, 505, Yngling and other fleets also sail within the club. SCH organises numerous regattas, competes in the Swiss Sailing League Challenge League and runs eSailing regattas in winter. Members maintain the infrastructure on a voluntary basis and meet before or after sailing in the clubhouse and at social events.

History

Segelclub Hallwil (SCH) is based in Beinwil am See and promotes sailing on Lake Hallwil through sporting and social events and the necessary infrastructure. It represents its roughly 600 members in associations and organisations, to the public and to local and cantonal authorities. SCH, its members and officials recognise the ethics charter of Swiss sport and submit to it. Club life is largely driven by fleets: manageable groups with similar boats plan their own regattas and events, including cruiser, single-handed dinghy, Fireball, Corsaire, Star, Tempest, Yngling and 505 fleets. Each fleet elects a fleet captain who maintains contact with equivalent fleets at other sailing clubs. Board members are elected by the general assembly for three-year terms and oversee representation, communication, finances, administration, regatta operations, club grounds, club boats, technical equipment and youth affairs. In 2025 the club celebrated its 65th anniversary with the club championship. Since 2015 SCH has been part of the Swiss Sailing League, sailing with its own mixed team in the Challenge League (2nd division); at the end of 2024 the team secured its league status. During the winter half-year, 7-o'clock regattas are held in eSailing format. Active members voluntarily maintain the crane, ramps, support boats and dry storage areas as a central part of club life.
