Salon Pursiseura ry
Salon Pursiseura ry is a long-established Finnish sailing club in Salo, founded in 1938. The club operates a shipyard on the Salonjoki river with around 60 winter storage berths and three archipelago bases on the Baltic coast: Hundholmen (Huntti), Kattisaari and Trollandet (Rölli). The programme includes regatta sailing with the annual Kasnäs Regatta in August, an active youth section with Optimist dinghies, Topper dinghies and summer dinghy courses, as well as boat inspections to SPV standards. The club connects sailors in the Salo region, organises events at its island bases and offers members access to Suomen Purjehdus ja Veneily ry with insurance benefits and the Nautic magazine.
History
Salon Pursiseura ry was founded in 1938. The club's aim is to awaken and strengthen interest in boating in its many forms and to offer opportunities to discover the hobby. It serves as a link between boat owners in the Salo region. According to its statutes, it promotes sea cruising, sailing, kayaking and rowing and increases opportunities for such trips with various suitable vessels. The registered office is the city of Salo. Over the decades the club grew into a major organisation with a shipyard on the Salonjoki, three archipelago bases and active racing and junior activities. Kattisaari was named in honour of the former harbour of Nauti-Cat Club ry. Rölli (Trollandet) in the Östra Skären group is the club's newest base. The Kasnäs Regatta in August is an annual highlight using FinRating handicap rules and participation in the Garmin ranking. Huntin Runtti is a traditional dinghy regatta around Hundholmen island. The club organises numerous events at its island bases during the sailing season and participates in SPV boat inspections to promote boating safety.
