Snaptun Sejlklub
Snaptun Sejlklub is the sailing club of Snaptun Lystbådehavn on Horsens Fjord in Denmark. The club sits on the southern shore of Hjarnø Sund at the entrance to Horsens Fjord in Juelsminde and shares with the marina a clubhouse with café, bathrooms including a family bathroom, a lounge with kitchen, outdoor barbecue areas and a balcony overlooking the fjord. The marina offers about 71 berths, water and electricity on the piers, a mast crane, a crab bridge and a playground for children. Club life includes Wednesday racing, the Snaptun Cup, joint boat launching and haul-out, and the Wednesday club for harbour upkeep. After the clubhouse fire in 2005 a new building was created for members and visiting sailors; a defibrillator has also been available since 2013.
History
Snaptun Lystbådehavn is run as a cooperative (andelsselskab). The harbour was built in 1991 largely with labour from the shareholders and offers roughly 70 berths of different sizes plus a mast crane. Two years later, in 1993, the clubhouse with modern marina facilities was built; it is also available to visiting sailors. In summer a tent with a barbecue area complements the facilities. In 2005 the clubhouse burned down; the harbour board used the rebuild to create up-to-date amenities: bathrooms including a family bathroom, lounge with kitchen, open balcony with fjord views, café, and play and barbecue areas. An expansion of the harbour took place after the year-2000 layout. Together with the local council (Snaptun Lokalråd), a defibrillator was acquired in March 2013. Snaptun lies in scenic surroundings on the southern side of Hjarnø Sund at the entrance to Horsens Fjord, about four kilometres from Glud. Today the marina has about 71 berths and, together with Snaptun Sejlklub, forms an active harbour and club community with racing, work days and social events.
