Nyköpings Segelsällskap

Nyköpings Segelsällskap (NYSS) is Nyköping’s oldest non-profit association, with a yard at Spelhagsvägen and the club island Broken on the waters of Stadsfjärden and the Swedish Baltic coast. Members use the Spelhagen yard with winter storage, mast crane, slipway and service building, plus Broken with pontoons, service house, small kiosk, sandy beach and sauna. The club welcomes sailors and boat owners of all kinds: strong junior programmes, sailing school and camps without needing your own boat, Tuesday racing and club championships, and winter storage. Founded in 1889 and with about 500 boat-interested members, NYSS is a long-established hub for club sailing and visiting craft in the Nyköping area.

History

Nyköpings Segelsällskap is Nyköping’s oldest non-profit association and was founded in 1889. Today it has about 500 boat-interested members and is an open community for boat owners of all kinds—not only sailing boats and racing sailors. Through members’ voluntary work, NYSS offers an active club with extensive junior activity, the club island Broken, winter storage at the Spelhagen yard and more. The support association Brokens Vänner was formed in 1958, initially to help fund the clubhouse on Broken within NYSS; since then it has repeatedly supported the island financially and enabled investments. Broken, often called “Lycksalighetens Ö”, is run by volunteer officials and offers a service house, kiosk, sandy beach, sauna and berths for members and visiting boats. The Spelhagen yard has indoor and outdoor winter places, mast crane, slip, wash pad and a hireable service building. From 1 December 2025 the postal address is Spelhagsvägen, 611 31 Nyköping. The club organises Tuesday sailing and the Tvåkronecup on Stadsfjärden as well as club championships at the yard.
