Nyborg Sejlforening
Nyborg Sejlforening (NSF) is the sailing club in Nyborg on Nyborg Fjord, Funen, and a meeting place for racing, cruising, training and social club life. Facilities include a clubhouse at Griffensund 15, pontoons, boat park, mast shed and cruising buoys in the fjord; a new boat wash pad is under construction. The programme covers youth sailing for ages 7–11, OK Dinghy, Laser/ILCA and Optimist, Tuesday racing, a sailing school and major events such as Vegvisir Race. With more than 125 years of tradition (jubilee in 2020) and active youth and racing work, NSF is a fixture of the local sailing community.
History
Nyborg Sejlforening has a long history: 27 July 2020 marked the official date of its 125th anniversary, linking the founding to 1895; the celebration was postponed at the time. Based on Nyborg Fjord, the club cultivates racing and cruising, training and social life. From August 2018 local enthusiasts built an OK Dinghy fleet; within months eight boats stood on the park in front of the club, with more interest in trial boats. Members have since organised weekly sailing and aim to race at OK events, supported by club boats for try-outs. The youth section grew with Optimist coaching, loan Lasers and coaches such as Christian Larsen and Martin Høier. Through Vegvisir Race with EMC Shorthand and Nyborg Municipality, Tuesday racing, the sailing school and e-sailing events in the clubhouse, NSF remains a venue for large and local sailing events. The club is currently upgrading infrastructure, including a new boat wash facility and fjord cruising buoys for overnight stays and picnics.
