Neustädter Segler-Verein e.V.

The Neustädter Segler-Verein e.V. (NSV) is the sailing club based in the Round Harbour of Neustadt in Holstein on the Baltic Sea. At Am Heisterbusch the club maintains moorings, its clubhouse and the public restaurant “Kombüse” with views of the harbour and the sea. An active youth section offers Optimist, dinghy, 29er and ILCA training as well as Team 8 sessions, and the club co-organises the well-known Neustadt Wednesday regatta series with neighbouring MYN. The programme includes season opening and closing sails, squadron cruises, the club regatta with summer festival, the Neustädter Sonnenschuss and social events such as sailors’ evenings, a winter hike and prize skat. The club is currently modernising the clubhouse sanitary facilities with EU, state and regional funding and improving accessibility.

History

Neustädter Segler-Verein e.V. is the sailing club whose home port is the historic Round Harbour of Neustadt in Holstein on the Baltic coast. Club life centres on the harbour at Am Heisterbusch with pontoons, clubhouse and the publicly accessible restaurant “Kombüse”, which welcomes sailors and guests with harbour views. Over the years a fixed annual programme has become established: traditional season opening, closing sail with the flag ceremony “Hol nieder Stander und Flaggen”, Whitsun squadron cruises, lantern parade and summer festival with club regatta. Sportingly defining is the Neustadt Wednesday regatta, which NSV runs together with Marine-Yachtclub Neustadt (MYN) from about April to September and concludes with a sailors’ awards evening. The club also hosts events such as the Neustädter Sonnenschuss and is regionally linked to the Neustadt Cup, the Baltic Cup and the Max-Oertz Regatta. The youth group offers Optimist, dinghy, 29er and ILCA training as well as Team 8 programmes and Optimist weeks. Community work days at the harbour, sailors’ evenings and regulars’ tables in the Kombüse, winter hike and prize skat complement the sporting offer. From October 2025 the club is modernising the clubhouse sanitary rooms; the project is supported by the European Union, the government of Schleswig-Holstein, LAG AktivRegion Wagrien-Fehmarn e.V., the state sports federation and the district of Ostholstein and aims to improve accessibility and participation. In parallel NSV maintains its own website, youth social media channels and a club magazine.
