Club Náutico El Rasillo
Club Náutico El Rasillo sits on Embalse González Lacasa in El Rasillo de Cameros in Spain’s La Rioja region, combining water sports with dining in the Sierra de Cameros. The site offers bathing areas, a pier, changing rooms and public toilets, plus its own restaurant and cafeteria with terrace overlooking the reservoir. Sport options include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, SUP, kayaking and pedal boats, along with sailboat and equipment hire. Visitors find a dedicated dog beach zone, lifeguard cover in the summer season and pedestrian access from El Rasillo; the club has operated since 1983 and is known locally as La Rioja’s inland beach.
History
The history of Club Náutico El Rasillo on Embalse González Lacasa in La Rioja is closely tied to the construction of the reservoir and a popular movement seeking leisure and water sports in the Sierra de Cameros. Embalse González Lacasa on the Iregua was built for water supply; the twentieth-century project flooded the former Los Molinos neighbourhood near Ortigosa de Cameros, with a milestone dated 1962. In the 1980s, neighbours and water-sports enthusiasts first used the new reservoir in precarious conditions—founders recalled starting “in a truck crate”. On 5 August 1983 the club was formally constituted; beginnings were a small windsurf school and modest facilities, driven by passion for sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. Over the decades the site was modernised with support from the Government of La Rioja as a regional tourism resource. Today the offer includes equipment hire, restaurant, bathing area and adapted services. In 2023 the club celebrated its 40th anniversary. Since June 2025 Iván and Zuleima have run the restaurant and recreational activities on site; Iván Robles is named as the current manager. The shoreline has traditionally been known as La Rioja’s beach.
