Club Náutico de Cullera

Club Náutico de Cullera is the official yacht club of the coastal town of Cullera on Spain's Mediterranean coast in the Valencia region. The club regularly organises cruiser regattas in Cullera Bay as well as offshore races, including the Regata de Altura Ruta del Gramantol between Cullera and Formentera. With facilities at Muelle Norte and Muelle Sur and a dense calendar of sailing and fishing events, the club serves active cruising and racing sailors in the region. A highlight is the Trofeo Bahía de los Naranjos, which marked its 50th edition in 2020 and ranks among the oldest regattas in the Spanish Mediterranean; Cullera's race course is considered one of the most important nationally after Valencia and Alicante.

History

Club Náutico de Cullera is the yacht club of the coastal town of Cullera on the Valencian Mediterranean coast and maintains a long regatta tradition in Cullera Bay. Its Trofeo Bahía de los Naranjos celebrated its 50th edition in 2020 and is regarded as one of the oldest regattas in the Spanish Mediterranean; anniversary festivities had to be limited to the race itself because of the Covid-19 pandemic. With a dense annual calendar of cruiser regattas – including Trofeo Castell de Cullera, Trofeo Riu Xúquer, Trofeo Pirata Dragut, Trofeo Cullera Esports, Trofeo Faro de Cullera, Trofeo Playa de San Antonio, Trofeo Aurora Cullera and Trofeo Penyeta del Moro – Cullera's race course has become one of the most important at regional level, surpassed only by Valencia and Alicante. During the coronavirus pandemic the league had to be suspended for a time; in July 2020 the club returned to the water with the Trofeo Pirata Dragut. Besides coastal races the club also organises offshore events such as the Regata de Altura Ruta del Gramantol between Cullera and Formentera. Alongside sailing, the club runs a fishing calendar with trophies such as Albacoras, Bacoretas, Picudos and Cefalópodos. Today the club, with Muelle Norte and Muelle Sur and an active board, is the sporting anchor of the local sailing and fishing community.
