Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca

Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca is a sports-oriented sailing and water-sports club on Alicante Bay on the Costa Blanca. Founded in 1973, it offers sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking and rowing as well as a recognised sailing school of the Federación Valenciana de Vela. Facilities include a harbour basin with ramp and crane, a seafront terrace, lounges, restaurant, showers, sauna and gym, plus an active youth and training school. Regular courses and training for children from age five, juniors and adults, summer camps, and events such as the Trofeo Bahía shape the programme. Hallmarks include the Escuela de Vela Azul with its environmental code of conduct, the Gallardete Azul award, and decades of inclusive and school-based water-sports provision in Alicante.

History

On 27 February 1973, a group of water-sports enthusiasts met in Alicante at the Casa Sacerdotal (Calle Aureliano Ibarra nº 9) for the founding assembly of Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca. The aim was to promote water sports among the city’s children and young people and to develop athletes representing Alicante in nautical disciplines. The first board was formed under president Joaquín López Baeza; founding officers included Manuel González Salinas (vice-president), Mario Arranz Martínez (commodore), Rafael Cano López (treasurer) and José Luis Vives Cárceles (secretary). Sailing, rowing and sport fishing were central from the outset. Over the decades the club’s own harbour was built; successive boards expanded facilities and secured generational renewal among members. The sailing and rowing schools teach navigation and rowing to children and adults and reinforce sporting values. Since 2016 the board pursued renewal of the administrative concession; at the end of 2022 the Conselleria granted a twelve-year extension linked to safety and operational works in the harbour basin. On 5 May 2023 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a press conference, a new anniversary logo, a calendar of sporting and social events and a planned history magazine for members. Today more than 1,000 children pass through the schools each year; about 95 percent of users are not full members, and around 300 are sports members in rowing, paddle surf or dinghy sailing. The sailing school is homologated by the Federación Valenciana de Vela (EVCV-VL/TDV – AL – 040) and repeatedly holds the Gallardete Azul as an Ecoescuela. The club organises and hosts regattas, fishing contests such as the Trofeo Bahía, and inclusive events such as Mar Solidaria.
