Motor-Yacht-Club Heidelberg e.V. im ADAC
Motor-Yacht-Club Heidelberg e.V. im ADAC is a water sports club on the River Neckar in Heidelberg and, since 2024, a Premium training centre of the German Motor Yacht Association (DMYV). The club grounds at Schurmanstraße 1 feature a modern clubhouse with catering and a spacious Neckar terrace as well as a harbour with 35 berths, shore power and drinking water. The club promotes water sports as a family activity, supports youth and senior members, and offers training for inland and coastal recreational craft licences as well as the radio certificates UBI and SRC. Weekly Friday club evenings, club outings and environmental projects under the Blue Flag award shape club life; founded in 1963, the club is an ADAC local club and a member association of the DMYV.
History
The chronicle of MYC Heidelberg begins on 16 December 1962 with a petition to the Heidelberg Automobile Club HAC within the ADAC to establish a motorboat sports section. Fritz Dieter proposed forming a Motor Yacht Club within the HAC for HAC members and other ADAC members; the document was signed by Schnarrenberger, Dieter, Dr. Hill, Bechtold, Hannemann, Deiser, Wasmer, Wilz, Ditscher and Geifes among others. On 8 January 1963 the first founding meeting of the motorboat sports section took place at the „Schwarzes Schiff“ – the birthday of today’s MYC. Early active members included Dieter, Ditscher, Glasbrenner, Pfitzer, Tolksdorf, Rinneberg, Wasmer and Winter. Growing membership and activity led to a desire for independence. After approval by ADAC Nordbaden, the MYC founding assembly was held on 21 November 1969 at the „Schwarzes Schiff“; the first board comprised Fritz Dieter (chair), Heinz Hufendiek (deputy), Hubert Tolksdorf (sports officer), Gerhard Glasbrenner (treasurer), Ewald Rother (secretary), Hanno Volk (harbour master) and Hans Wasser (hall master). Since 1969 there has been close cooperation with the ADAC and the German Motor Yacht Association, of which MYC became a support point. In the early years the fleet consisted of inflatable boats, paddle boats and small wooden craft; the club harbour grew from simple pontoons with the help of K. H. Rinneberg into a comfortable river harbour with clubhouse and sanitary facilities. Since 1975 the club has been a recognised DMYV training centre and since 2024 a Premium training centre. The club has repeatedly received the Blue Flag for environmental protection, education, safety and accessibility, most recently in 2025.

Modern clubhouse with catering and a spacious Neckar terrace, harbour with 35 berths (boxes up to 12 m length and 3.5 m beam, head pontoons up to 15 m), 230 V power per box, drinking water at the approach pontoons, showers and toilets for guests, pontoon facilities at Neckar kilometre 24.1.
