Lundeborg Sejlklub

Lundeborg Sejlklub is a Danish sailing club on the east coast of Funen with its home base at Lundeborg Lystbådehavn marina. The club has a member-built clubhouse made from two containers with a shared terrace, gear storage, toilet with shower, workshop, Optimist dinghy racks and kayak storage. The mast shed provides space for harbour users' masts and serves as a grill area for harbour guests in summer. The programme welcomes sailors and families of all ages, including a junior section for ages 7 to 17 and a dedicated kayak section with courses. Regular Wednesday evening races, family cruises and the traditional Birkholm autumn trips shape club life. Founded on 16 November 1983 at Lundeborg Kro, the club is a member of Dansk Sejlunion and Dansk Kano og Kajakforbund.

Lundeborg, Dänemark

History

Lundeborg Sejlklub held its founding meeting on 16 November 1983 at Lundeborg Kro. The timing was deliberately set after the England–Denmark football match on television; Denmark won 1–0 at Wembley for the first time since Olympic bronze in 1948, with Allan Simonsen's goal. In high spirits, Kjeld Bundgaard Pedersen (Oure) was elected chairman, Kis Henriksen (Lundeborg) vice-chair, Kenneth Arndrup (Lundeborg) treasurer, Palle Palsgaard (Gudme) secretary and Michael Vest Hansen ordinary board member. A proposal to name the club Gudme Sejlklub because Lundeborg then belonged to Gudme municipality failed due to local resistance; the name Lundeborg Sejlklub prevailed. The first 25 years were marked by shared family and adult cruises, racing, and joint construction of the clubhouse, dinghy slipway and mast house. The clubhouse was built from two containers with a shared roof and terrace; in 2005 it was raised onto piles and the lower level fitted with gear storage and a toilet with shower. At the 25th anniversary in 2008, chairman Kenneth Arndrup thanked the board for long service and called for rejuvenation focused on young families, coach training and fleet renewal. The club remains a member of Dansk Sejlunion and Dansk Kano og Kajakforbund and still runs an active kayak section and junior section.
