Lindeshamns Båtklubb
Lindeshamns Båtklubb is the boat club at the historic Lindeshamn harbour in Landskrona on Sweden’s Öresund coast. The club maintains a harbour facility with a clubhouse (klubbstugan), where the club flag is stored, as well as camera-monitored small-boat harbour infrastructure across the harbour area. Club life is shaped by community activities such as annual fishing competitions with many participants and boats, and weekly boules with a shared barbecue afterwards. Members and visitors find an active harbour community at the site; the place’s history goes back to the 19th-century brickworks and the harbour completed in 1882, from which today’s boat-club facilities developed.
History
The history of Linds Hamn and Lindeshamn is closely tied to the brickworks of master builder Andreas Lind, who was active in 19th-century Landskrona. In 1856 he started a brickworks at what is now Lindeshamn. After a few decades the works employed about 60 workers and produced around 1.5 million bricks and 100,000 roof tiles per year. The harbour was built to ship the bricks directly from the works and was completed in 1882. When the brickworks closed in 1896, the land was subdivided and sold as villa plots – the start of the villas along Strandvägen. From this historic harbour site the present small-boat harbour and boat club Lindeshamn developed, which to this day includes a clubhouse, club life and community events such as fishing competitions and boules.
