Lohjan Purjehtijat ry
Lohjan Purjehtijat ry is a Finnish sailing club based in Lohja with its club base at Nuottatie 2 on Lake Lohja (Lohjanjärvi). The club offers the LP-maja clubhouse with sauna, about ten berths at the Nuottatie pier for motor and sailing boats, dinghy storage in the yard, and a sea harbour with roughly 30 to 40 buoy berths at Korssundet in Inkoo. Children and juniors train in Optari/Optimist groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Laser/ILCA groups on Mondays and Wednesdays, with summer beginner and advanced courses. Adults can book Laser and Melges 24 tuition by arrangement. Founded in 1963, the club runs club regattas, work parties and an active youth programme with courses and racing.
History
Lohjan Purjehtijat ry was founded on 23 April 1963. The club's registered seat is the town of Lohja; its area of activity covers Lohja and the surrounding region. The club base is at Nuottatie with the LP-maja clubhouse, pier and sauna. For coastal sailing the club maintains a sea harbour at Korssundet in Inkoo with buoy berths. Youth development through Optari and Laser groups and summer sailing courses is a core part of club life. For the 60th anniversary a jubilee regatta was held on 16 September 2023 on the Aurlahdella course, open from Optimists to keelboats. The club has received association support from Finland's Ministry of Education and Culture. Regular spring and autumn general meetings with talkoot (work parties) continue to shape club life.
