Obersulmer Segelsport-Club e.V.
Obersulmer Segelsport-Club e.V. is a sailing club based primarily at Lake Breitenauer See in the Heilbronn/Stuttgart region, with a second sailing area at the Lauffen am Neckar lock basin. At the lake the club offers more than 70 dry berths for dinghies, two water berths for club boats of the Kielzugvogel class, and shared use of a clubhouse; at Lauffen there are slipway and jetty facilities plus further berths. Youth work and training shape the programme: Optimist courses, Saturday junior training, school taster sessions and the Obersulm Ferienexpress. Adults and juniors can obtain inland and coastal pleasure craft licences, the coastal skipper certificate and VHF radio certificates; regattas and shared cruising trips complete club life.
History
Obersulmer Segelsport-Club e.V. was founded in 1975 with a view to the then still planned Breitenauer See. With more than 200 members the OSC is active on two sailing grounds: mainly at Breitenauer See and at the Lauffen am Neckar basin. In spring 1997 the clubhouse for sailing clubs based at Breitenauer See was completed and is used by the OSC on a shared basis. At the lake the club has more than 70 dry berths for dinghies and two water berths for Kielzugvogel club boats; at Lauffen there are about 50 dry berths, a slipway, a jetty and ten water berths for keelboats. Youth work with about 40 children, school sailing taster courses and participation in Obersulm's Ferienexpress have long been established. In 2025 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a jubilee cruise on the Neckar aboard the Weinkönigin; mayors conveyed congratulations and support, and founding members Ulrich Gebhard and Eckard Wagner received the golden medal of honour. The same year focused on a new boathouse as the largest single investment in club history (around 75,000 euros)—first as a sponsorship project, later as a completed building visited during the Segelhock. Training successes in junior sailing and pleasure craft licences, regattas such as Seeteufelchen, Kätchen-Cup and the friendship regatta, plus cruising trips such as to Croatia, mark recent development.
