ost sailing
ost sailing is the sailing club of the OST University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil and trains students and other interested sailors on the upper Lake Zurich. The club uses the boat platform in Rapperswil harbour and operates a fleet of ILCA dinghies, 420s and one J/70. The course programme ranges from beginner and intermediate to advanced courses with a focus on racing; members can also take a D-Schein sailing licence course. Founded in 2015 as HSR Sailing and re-established as ost sailing in 2023, the club works closely with Yacht Club Rapperswil and particularly welcomes students and young people.
History
The club has existed since 2015 and was long known as HSR Sailing. It was founded to give students of the former University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil easy access to sailing. After the university was renamed OST, the club already used the name ost sailing publicly, but a formal rename in the statutes was not possible for banking-law reasons. Therefore a new association named ost sailing was founded on 22 November 2023 and HSR Sailing was dissolved. Members, course activities and assets of HSR Sailing were transferred seamlessly to ost sailing. The seat is in Rapperswil SG at Oberseestrasse 10 (OST campus). The purpose is training students and young people in sailing and organising events and further education in cooperation with Yacht Club Rapperswil. Today ost sailing describes itself as the largest sailing-course provider on the upper Lake Zurich basin and also opens its offer to non-students.

Sailing courses (beginner, intermediate, advanced with racing focus), D-Schein course for members, training and free sailing, cooperation with Yacht Club Rapperswil, participation in the Rattenfest.
Youth section
Training of students and young people in sailing; courses and club life especially open to OST University students and young people.
