Ornäs Båtklubb

History

Ornäs Båtklubb was founded in 1988 and has since grown into a large boat club in the Dalarna region. The home harbour is in Ornäs between Falun and Borlänge and makes use of its favourable location on the Runn–Ösjön lake system and the Dalälven for boating and recreation. Today the club has around 280 berths of different types and sizes – including Y-boom berths, buoys at the pier, quay berths, storage places and sheds – supervised by members. The club hut sits attractively in the harbour with a view of Ösjön and houses the harbour office and further club information; outside harbour office hours it is available only to members. On the club grounds there are toilet emptying facilities, a pump at the quay, residual waste containers and an environmental station for members. New members register via the Svenska Båtunionen Administrative System (BAS); there is a waiting list for berths, and membership is required to join it. The club currently has about 450 members. Members receive the magazine Båtliv and can insure their boats through Svenska Sjö. A defibrillator is mounted outside the clubhouse beside the veranda stairs during the season from 15 May to 30 September. For 2026, spring work days, seasonal watch duties and autumn shut-off of electricity and water are documented; the crane group helps members with launching.
