OPTI CWM Gdynia
OPTI CWM Gdynia is a youth sailing club in Gdynia on Poland's Baltic coast specialising in racing. The club focuses on the Optimist class and offers a sailing school, race training, holiday courses and sailing camps for children and teenagers. In summer there is on-water training at least twice a week, regatta trips and sports camps; in winter the programme includes general fitness, swimming lessons and ski camps. For many years the club has ranked among the top teams in the Polish Cup and competes in international regattas. Its motto prioritises fun first, then sporting results, with a strong safety approach using escort boats and life jackets.
History
OPTI CWM Gdynia was founded in 2000. Since then the club has trained and accompanied many children and young people in sailing; days spent together are meant to remain lasting memories. The club teaches sailing with passion and values a family-friendly atmosphere. Its motto is: first good fun, then sporting results follow. Competitively, the club has for many years ranked among the leading teams in the Polish Cup (Puchar Polski) and races successfully in international regattas. The offer includes a sailing school, race training, holiday sailing courses, sailing camps and winter activities such as ski camps and trips in the Tri-City region. Training is organised in a sailing school for beginners, the young racing group B9, competitive group B and the most experienced racing group A, which takes part in ranking events, championships and international races. Advanced groups travel frequently to competitions and camps in Poland, Europe and beyond. Safety comes first: each child is supervised by an experienced coach on an escort boat and wears a certified life jacket.
