Jedriličarski klub Strožanac
Jedriličarski klub Strožanac is a sailing club in Podstrana near Split on the Croatian Adriatic, based at Sportska lučica Strožanac. The club organises local and international regattas, sailing schools, youth training and recreational sailing for all ages. Its programme includes skipper training for cruising and racing, meteorology, first aid at sea, racing rules and sea rescue. The club is known for events such as the Strožanac ILCA CUP Challenge, Strožanac OPEN and offshore regattas; members can also join races to Vis and Komiža, Jabuka and Palagruža. Founded in 2012 out of a love of sailing, the club develops innovative education projects and plans an International Center for Maritime Culture and Sports in the Municipality of Podstrana.
History
Jedriličarski klub Strožanac was founded on 7 January 2012 as a sports association out of a pure love of sailing. From the start the club brought together professionals dedicated to sailing, education and competition, aiming to preserve and develop maritime skills and culture. Its work focuses on three pillars: organising competitions in Olympic and non-Olympic classes, innovative education programmes to pass on maritime knowledge, and fostering generations who love the sea, ecology and sport. Over the years the club established its own events such as the Strožanac ILCA CUP Challenge, Strožanac OPEN, Strožanac Dragon Force 65 and Strožanac Offshore, and takes members to well-known Adriatic regattas including Vis and Komiža, Jabuka and Palagruža. It is currently working to establish an International Center for Maritime Culture and Sports on maritime property of the Municipality of Podstrana, intended to combine sport, science, tourism, education and cultural heritage and support local development. The current board term runs until 10 December 2027. Today JK Strožanac is a vibrant sailing community on the Dalmatian coast for beginners and experienced sailors alike.
