Jedriličarski klub Samobor
Jedriličarski klub Samobor is an active sailing club based in Samobor near Zagreb, with its sailing grounds all along the Croatian Adriatic. Although the club is inland, it organises sailing schools, skipper training, internal club competitions and the traditional club regatta Samobor Cup at sea. Members can obtain verification through the Croatian Sailing Federation (HJS) and take part in offshore and coastal regattas. The club has around 120 members and since its founding in February 2001 has built a strong community under the motto "You'll never sail alone".
History
Jedriličarski klub Samobor was founded in February 2001 by a group of sailing enthusiasts and friends. The first president and co-founder was Miroslav Burić; founding members include Alen Šćulac and Nenad Vrhovčak. Although Samobor is not on the coast, the club quickly grew into an active sailing community with members from Samobor, Zagreb, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Canada. Over the years it reached about 120 members and more than 80 sailors verified with the Croatian Sailing Federation HJS. The club regatta Samobor Cup became a tradition and in 2026 its 18th edition also marked the club's 25th anniversary; the fleet sailed the symbolic route of the first club cruise via Split, Hvar (Stari Grad), Vis and Šolta. At the jubilee, Alen Šćulac, Nenad Vrhovčak and Vesna Burić (also posthumously for Miroslav Burić) received the "Srebrno jedro" plaque. Club members regularly compete in Adriatic regattas, including offshore events such as Sušac za dvoje. The motto "You'll never sail alone" stresses that crew and community matter more than the boat.
